Who Shot Thebarman remains an outright $3.30 favourite in 2016 Zipping Classic betting markets with Ladbrokes.com.au despite drifting, ahead of So Si Bon ($4.20) and Big Orange ($4.80).

Will Who Shot Thebarman justify favouritism and win the 2016 Zipping Classic, or will one of his talented rivals post an upset?

1st

Almoonqith ($5.50)

Almoonqith has found excellent form leading into the Zipping Classic and should prove extremely tough to beat on Saturday from the ideal barrier 4, particularly with Damien Oliver in the saddle. Winner of the Sandown Cup (3200m) at this meeting in 2015, Almoonqith took a few runs to find condition upon resuming this time, but announced himself as serious Melbourne Cup contender when he savaged the line for fourth in the Group 1 Caulfield Cup (2400m) on October 15th. Having subsequently placed sixth in the Melbourne Cup last Tuesday, the Dynaformer entire should relish a step back in company and distance.

2nd

Secret Number ($12)

Godolphin raider Secret Number was unable to sustain his on-pace run in the Melbourne Cup, but is another horse that will enjoy a step back in distance and is arguably over the 2016 Zipping Classic odds at his current quote. Secret Number has been kept to light duties through his entire racing career so far and won the Listed Doonside Cup Stakes (2011m) at Ayr in his only other start prior to the Melbourne Cup in 2016.

3rd

So Si Bon ($4.20)

So Si Bon undoubtedly faces his biggest career test against open company for the first time this weekend, but he will carry only 50.5kgs as a three-year-old and is more than worth consideration for a bet as a result. Making a credible transition to black type company when sixth in the Group 3 Caulfield Guineas Prelude (1400m), the So You Think colt progressed to fifth in the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) and third in the Group 2 Moonee Valley Vase (2040m), before running fourth in the Group 1 Victoria Derby (2500m) a fortnight ago.
