Having finished a credible eighth in the Group 1 Melbourne Cup (3200m) last Tuesday, OTI Racing has nominated Au Revior for the 2014 Zipping Classic.

Claiming three wins and two minor places from his 15 competitive starts so far, Au Revoir has returned to racing in exceptional form this time in; finishing fourth in the Group 3 Prix Exbury (2000m) first-up before finishing a close second in the Prix Lord Seymour (2400m) on April 17th.

Running fourth in the Group 2 Prix Foy (2400m) and third in the Group 2 Moonee Valley Cup (2500m) in his Australian racing debut on October 25th, the Singspiel entire has been earmarked for a return to the paddock following the Zipping Classic.

Finishing a disappointing tenth when heavily backed leading into the Melbourne Cup, Fawkner is aiming to restore to faith at Sandown this weekend and arguably leads 2014 Zipping Classic nominations.

Claiming ten wins and eight minor places from his 26 competitive starts so far, Fawkner was a standout for the Macedon Lodge stables over the 2013 edition of the Spring Racing Carnival; finishing fifth in the Group 1 George Main Stakes (1600m) and third in the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes (2000m) before winning the major Group 1 Caulfield Cup (2400m) on October 19th.

Returning to racing in similarly impressive form this time in, the Reset gelding ran second in the Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) first-up before returning to the winner’s circle in the Group 1 Caulfield Stakes (2000m) on October 11th.

Running a close second to Adelaide in the Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m) leading into the Melbourne Cup, Fawkner will be particularly difficult to beat in the 2014 Zipping Classic.

Macedon Lodge is set to launch a talented three-pronged attack on the 2014 Zipping Classic, having also nominated classy stable mates Green Moon and Sea Moon for the Saturday feature.

Surprisingly yet to break through for another race win since taking out the 2012 edition of the Melbourne Cup, Green Moon was unlucky to be scratched from the Race That Stops a Nation at the eleventh hour this year with a slight leg strain.

Running second to Fiorente in the Group 1 Australian Cup (2000m) most notably over autumn this year, the Montjeu entire finished ninth in the Caulfield Cup last time out and is more than a chance of figuring in contention in the Zipping Classic.

Failing to beat a single runner home in the Caulfield Cup last time out, Sea Moon was a notable performer in similar events during the 2013 Spring Racing Carnival; finishing second in the Listed Bart Cummings (2520m) and winning the Group 2 Herbert Power Stakes (2400m) most notably.

A final field and barrier draw for the 2014 Zipping Classic is due to be released on Wednesday morning.
